The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) is a government agency dedicated to encouraging and supporting agricultural researchers to improve the conditions of the world's poor through enhanced food yield and quality. It seeks to partner Australia's scientists with governments and NGOs in Papua New Guinea and Pacific Island countries, East Asia, Mekong countries and China, South and West Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Middle East and North Africa. It commissions research into improving sustainable agricultural production in these regions, funds training and administers the Australian Government’s contribution to the CGIAR Fund.
