“Diseases in Asian Aquaculture” (DAA) series is held once in every three years by The Fish Health Section of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS-FHS). AFS-FHS was established on January 30, 1990 at the Third Meeting of the Asian Fish Health Network (AFHN) at the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, University Pertanian Malaysia (UPM). Since then, DAA symposia have been held in Indonesia (DAA1), Thailand (DAA2 and DAA3), the Philippines (DAA4), Australia (DAA5), Sri Lanka (DAA6), Taiwan (DAA7), India (DAA8), Vietnam (DAA9) and back to Indonesia (DAA10). After 30 years of AFS-FHS establishment, DAA11 will be held in Malaysia for the first time.
Hosted by the Fish Health Section of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS-FHS), the DAA11 symposium will bring together professionals, academicians, and field experts to discuss the core aspects of biosecurity in aquaculture, epidemiology, detection method/diagnostic, prevention and control measures and cutting-edge research in fish and shrimp health management.
The virtual discussion will identify pathways for research developments, trends and the future of the aquatic animal health industry. WorldFish’s Sustainable Aquaculture Research Program Lead, Vishnumurthy Mohan Chadag, will draw on his research work on anti-microbial resistance and biosecurity in sustainable aquaculture production.
