A virtual discussion to promote possible synergies between the protection of the marine environment and the development of a real and sustainable blue economy.
Date: Sunday-Monday, 20-21 March 2022
The Monaco Blue Initiative is a unique discussion platform, which brings together the private sector companies, scientists, decision-makers, major international organizations and civil society in the ocean sector to discuss the current and future global challenges of ocean management and conservation. To be truly aware of our relationship with the ocean and hope to change it, we need to look at how we act towards the seas. This is the whole point of the Monaco Blue Initiative.
Organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, this event aimed to stimulate high-level discussions and negotiations that will feed into the Convention on Biological Diversity, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the negotiations on Marine Biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction and major international meetings such as the International Congress of Marine Protected Areas.
As part of our commitments to explore solutions that connect social, economic and environmental challenges afflicting the ocean we want, WorldFish supported the goals of OSM by continuing to showcase our research and innovation in ocean sciences in relation to the WorldFish's '2030 Research and Innovation Strategy' and CGIAR's initiative in 'Resilient Aquatic Foods for Healthy People and Planet.'
