Arctic exceptionalism is at play and the framework for Arctic collaboration is upended because of the actions of one Arctic nation, outside of the Arctic region. As concerns related to hard as well as soft security and the division between international, national, regional, and local interests dominate the discussions, how can we carve a pathway forward?
Arctic Frontiers 2022 Pathways will reflect on the choices the Arctic is facing in addressing pressing global challenges. The urgency for action was discussed as the region, alongside the rest of the globe, maneuvers from one global crisis to another and as the ramifications of the current crisis are still partially to be unveiled. The 2022 conference discussed the purpose and pathways forward for Arctic collaboration.
The 2022 conference focussed on pathways to economic development, sustainability, climate action, security, stability, and respect for science in decision-making. Pathways span from nationwide policies, corporate strategies, and indigenous livelihoods to individual choices, emphasizing the need for broad stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
As part of our commitments to the 2022 Arctic Frontiers Pathways, WorldFish's Global Lead in Nutrition and Public Health, Shakuntala Thilsted, took on Tuesday, 10 May 2022 to showcase our research, technology and innovation in food from the ocean and ocean science for sustainable development, in relation to the WorldFish's '2030 Research and Innovation Strategy' and CGIAR's initiative in 'Resilient Aquatic Foods for Healthy People and Planet.'
