With the 2030 Agenda, the international community has set itself ambitious Sustainable Development Goals, such as ending global hunger. Despite this, the number of people affected by hunger is continuing to rise. In addition to the climate crisis, the extinction of species, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine has become a new driving force in this global food security crisis.

The world’s largest informal Conference, the 2023 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in cooperation with the Berlin Senate and Messe Berlin GmbH, addressed the issue of: “Food Systems Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crises”.

The Kick-off Event marked the official start of the 2023 GFFA with an exchange between high-level experts of the global agri-food sector from politics, industry, science, and civil society, outlining its diverse aspects and paving the way for the discussions on how to bring about successful transformation.
