This global event took place over four days in Lisbon, Portugal and online, and brought together the broadest cross-section of the ocean community, from businesses to scientists, government, investors, and civil society to provide reality checks on how their industries are progressing towards 2030 targets, and what needs to happen next.
Hosted by the Economists and featuring six industry tracks: shipping, fishing, aquaculture, energy, tourism, and plastics, sessions addressed cross-industry topics including ocean finance, governance, and restoration solutions. Speakers discussed the finance gap, assessed new technologies and highlighted successful initiatives that are beginning to make an impact on ocean health.
As part of our commitments explored solutions that connect social, economic and environmental challenges afflicting a sustainable ocean economy, WorldFish supported the goals of the World Ocean Summit by continuing to showcase our research and innovation in shaping and advancing the way in which governments, businesses, and conservation organizations work together to fashion the 'blue economy.'
