A virtual calling for innovations in the production and processing of aquatic foods for improved nutritional and economic benefits in low-and middle-income countries.
Submission Timeline: 25 May – 22 June 2021
In this exciting aquatic food innovation challenge led by Friends of Ocean Action, in collaboration with WorldFish and Stanford University's Center for Ocean Solutions and funded by Benioff Family Foundation, they sought aquatic food production and processing solutions that boost nutritional and economic benefits for poor and vulnerable local communities in low resource countries.
The aquatic food challenge encouraged new ideas that provide technological support for small-scale actors while promoting gender equality across aquatic food systems. Think innovations to minimize food loss and waste or to improve the sustainability of fishing and farming of diverse aquatic species. The top solutions joined a 6-month program to scale and advance their impact.
