This event drew findings from the HLPE 7 on Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security and Nutrition, the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and the Poverty Eradication (SSF Guidelines) endorsed to the Committee on Fisheries (COFI) to enhance the contribution of small-scale fisheries to food security and nutrition and fulfill their shared common goal of building a sustainable, resilient and inclusive food future for all.

Hosted by the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), the event gathered speakers from from top to bottom stakeholders, including WorldFish’s Honorary Fellow, John Kurien, who in the past has made a call to scientists and policymakers to listen and respect the values of the fisher people of the world as well as Research Program Leader for Value Chains and Nutrition, Shakuntala Thilsted, who was recently appointed as the Vice Chair of UN Food Systems Action 4 for Equitable Livelihoods, to highlight the actions needed to improve the issues of gender, youth, inequality and data systems for small-scale fisheries in sustainable food systems.
