FAO Regional Office for Asia and Pacific (FAO RAP), in collaboration with the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) organized a regional consultant meeting to promote healthy, sustainable and inclusive food system.
This regional consultation meeting intended to support food systems transformation actions, thereby contributing to resolving hunger and reducing diet-related diseases problems amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in South Asia.
WorldFish’s Global Lead for Nutrition and Public Health and Vice Chair of the Summit's Advancing Equitable Livelihoods Action Track, Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted, joined other experts to increase awareness about the Food Systems Summit outcomes and discuss the commitments made by the Member States, Coalitions and other stakeholders during the Summit last year.
Together, they also shared examples of inclusive and sustainable food system supply chains in the region and highlight how they contributed to limiting the COVID-19 pandemic in the South Asian regions.
