A world in which small-scale artisanal fishers, fish farmers, and fish workers are fully recognized and empowered to continue their contributions to human well-being, healthy food systems, and poverty eradication through the responsible and sustainable use of fisheries and aquaculture resources. Last year, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2022 as the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022), with FAO as the lead agency in collaboration with other relevant organizations and bodies of the United Nations system.
In celebration of the spectacular end of IYAFA2022, FAO, and INFOFISH are organizing a regional closing event for Asia. The event aims to reach small-scale fisheries and aquaculture stakeholders, including FAO member countries and other partners, by providing an overview of selected regional activities in the Asia and Pacific region and sharing key recommendations stemming from it.
