The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WorldFish and Federal University of Technology, Akure took place on the 26 June 2019 in Nigeria. The MoU signing ceremony was signed by Prof. Joseph Fuwape, FUTA Vice Chancellor and Dr. Johnstone Gareth, WorldFish Director General.

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is a tertiary teaching and research institution established under the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The mission of FUTA being to promote technological advancement by providing a conducive environment for research, teaching and learning which engenders the development of products that are technologically oriented, self-reliant and relevant to society.

The FUTA and WorldFish will promote and accelerate the progress of research and training in the area of aquaculture and fisheries. The MoU will ultimately play an important role in exchanging science capacity, promoting research collaboration, conducting collaborative research activities, holding joint knowledge exchange events and capacity building program and other areas of cooperation between two centers.
