WorldFish. 2024. WorldFish in Zambia. Penang, Malaysia: WorldFish. Factsheet: 2024-47.

Zambia produces more than 170,000 metric tons of fish per year, of which almost 56 percent comes from capture fisheries. The aquaculture sector has been growing steadily, contributing 75,000 metric tons in 2022, it representing a 19% increase from 2021. The rise in aquaculture production is fueled by the expansion of large-scale, capital-intensive commercial operations, especially through investments in cage culture, as well as recent investments from the Zambian government, WorldFish, and other stakeholders supporting small-scale aquaculture.
