The Solomon Islands possesses high levels of biodiversity, and cultural diversity and much of its land and sea resources are under customary management by indigenous peoples. However, it is also under intense pressure from interested industry and government parties to develop extractive industries and other forms of foreign investment requiring access to natural resources.

In this event hosted by WorldFish in collaboration with the Initiative for Peacebuilding at the University of Melbourne and Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Solomon Islands researchers, practitioners and community leaders involved with community analysis discussed actions around their natural resources and environments.

Moderated by WorldFish's Small-scale Resilient Scientist, Anouk Ride, the panel also discussed interactions of environment and conflict in their communities, and then point the way to options for local conflict transformation, and peacebuilding in contexts of biological and human diversity.
