Pan-African Workshop on Strengthening Organizational Structures of Non-State Structures of Non-State Actors for Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in Africa

The workshop aims to strengthen non-state actor (NSA) platforms and their representation at regional and global levels for sustainable small-scale fisheries in Africa. Bringing together 40 participants—including non-state actors, other small-scale fisheries representatives and stakeholders, and regional organizations and partners—the workshop provides an opportunity for attendees to exchange experiences and discuss capacity development needs.

Innovation Zoominar: Raising Genetically Improved Tilapia in Climate-Smart Ponds

A Zoom event to expore the opportunities and challenges of innovation implementation experienced by farmers and/or consumers under COVID-19 circumstances and disruptions and the role for research organizations to facilitate implementation and scaling of these innovations in the region.

Food for Thought: Integration of industry chain, external financing and distribution of cooperative residual: analysis on Yanghe village economic community

The shortage of funds and financing difficulties are the general challenges faced in the rapid development of fisheries industry. This talk will focus on the Yanghe village economic community as a case study, in exploring how leading enterprises develop new financing channels and innovative financing model to resolve the capital bottleneck in order to achieve economy of scale. The paper analyzed the integration of industry chain, focused on the innovation of the financing model and the distribution of cooperative residual.

Special events: ICAR-WorldFish research strategy for India

The Deputy Director General (Fisheries) from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Directors from the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI) and the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT)—all ICAR research institutes—will visit the WorldFish head office to finalize the ICAR-WorldFish research strategy and funding for the next five years.
