 
Gender Scientist
Seamus Murphy is Post-doctoral Research Fellow for WorldFish. Seamus 
received his PhD in Social Anthropology from the School of 
Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He also holds 
an MPhil degree in Research Methods, and MA degree in Social 
Anthropology of Development and BA degrees in Sociology and Information 
Studies. He leads gender research within WorldFish Egypt's Value Chains 
and Nutrition Program, where bilateral and FISH CRP funded work focuses 
on women's economic empowerment, pro-poor enterprise development, fish 
consumption, and sex-disaggregated farmed fish trait preferences. As 
part of the CGIAR Gender and Breeding Initiative, his is also 
responsible for farmed fish trait preference and demand modelling in 
Zambia. He currently leads the EC-funded 'Empowering Women Fish 
Retailers in Egypt' (EWFIRE) project. He has also published a number of 
peer-reviewed and grey literature prior to his joining WorldFish, where 
he worked as Post-doc at the Institute of Development Studies, 
University of Sussex.
