From 2 to 6 October 2017, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM) and the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR)--in collaboration with Ecological Solutions Solomon Islands (ESSI), the Solomon Islands Community Conservation Partnership (SICCP), the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program (SPREP) and WorldFish--organized the first Solomon Islands resource management symposium in Honiara. The symposium brought together more than 300 representatives from ministries, provincial governments, civil society organizations, women’s and youth groups, and communities from all over the country to share experiences on natural resource management. Over four days, more than 60 presentations were given. This report summarizes the main outcomes of the symposium. It provides a short description of, and a link to, every presentation. The aim of this report is to capture the spirit of five amazing days in which communities, conservationists, scientists and government officials from all parts of the country came together to discuss environmental threats and identify potential solutions--a milestone for the emerging environmental movement in Solomon Islands.
