Context and WorldFish Participation:

The 2024 SBTi & Climate Symposium, themed "From Climate Pledges to Action", expands its focus beyond the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to include broader climate action. Previously known as the SBTi Symposium, this third edition event returns with a broader scope, addressing the need for accelerated climate action, how this can lead to innovation and growth, and using the SBTi as a systemic approach and credible pathway to reduce emissions.

WorldFish's Nhuong Tran will discuss opportunities to engage leading experts and practitioners on critical actions Malaysia must take in climate-resilient aquatic food systems research, production sectors, and their benefits for food, nutrition, and livelihood security. These strategies, actions, and pledges are key to moving towards significantly reducing GHG emissions to meet the Paris Climate Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius
