A primary responsibility of the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department is to manage the inland, brackish water and marine resources that are abundant in Odisha, an eastern state of India on the Bay of Bengal. Related to this, the department works to increase fish and fish seed production, provide training and capacity building through its extension department, and monitor the welfare of fisherfolk.
