Daniel Petrescu is the Head of Audit and Advisory at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He is responsible for the strategic direction and overall performance of the unit and ensures effective relationships with implementers, communities, and technical partners on a global scale. He advises the Board and its committees on strategic priorities, audit results, and subsequent management actions. He is also a member of Europe Board for The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI).
Daniel’s journey in the realm of audit and advisory is marked by more than two decades of progressive roles both in private and public sector. His experience at Raiffeisen Bank Romania as an Internal Auditor and Manager, followed by his tenure as Internal Audit Director and General Inspector at BRD – Groupe Societe Generale, underscores his profound expertise in risk management, governance, and finance. Since joining the Global Fund in 2014, Daniel has continually demonstrated his prowess in these fields.
His academic credentials, including an EMBA from WU Executive and professional certifications such as Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Diploma, as well as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certifications, equip him with a comprehensive understanding of governance, risk management and financial matters in international development and financial services industry.
