
Country Representative, Cambodia
Dr Sean Austin has more than 30 years of experience in the Asia–Pacific region as a senior technical advisor and management leader, including 15 years in Cambodia. His career spans natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood development, working with international NGOs, bilateral and multilateral donors, and private consulting firms.
Prior to joining WorldFish, he served as Team Leader for a five-year GIZ-funded aquaculture and fisheries food security project, collaborating with WorldFish Cambodia through a four-year grant to establish and strengthen the country’s rice field fisheries systems. He has deep expertise in strategy development, capacity building, government and donor coordination, and resource mobilisation to expand and sustain programmes.
Dr Austin holds an MSc in Wildlife Science from New Mexico State University and a PhD in Wildlife Conservation Science from Texas A&M University, where his research focused on carnivore ecology in Thailand’s tropical forests and management implications for national parks.
