Sean is the Executive Liaison Officer with the Director General's Office at WorldFish.

He believes that a scientifically literate society is essential to address complex societal and environmental issues as science-literate citizens will better understand how the world works and thus can better deal with problems through intelligent and informed decisions.

Before joining WorldFish as a Science Communications Specialist, Sean was part of the start-up team that set up the science discovery center in Penang, Malaysia. He led the development and deployment of innovative science communications for various audiences through digital, social and traditional media.

Sean first came across WorldFish two decades ago when he had to utilize WorldFish’s resource center for his research work while pursuing his bachelor's degree in fisheries science. He also holds a master's degree in aquatic biology from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

In his free time, he volunteers in community improvement projects involving various stakeholders, including government agencies at local, state and federal levels, as well as civil society actors, the private sector and the general public.

Sean loves to travel as he firmly believes that this is one of the best ways to experience different cultures. When international travel was prohibited due to COVID-19 containment efforts, he seized the opportunity to earn his Open Water Diver certification in 2020 and obtained his Advanced certification in 2022 domestically, enabling him to explore the vast underwater world as well.
