
WorldFish and the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of Türkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in fisheries and aquaculture research and innovation.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Essam Yassin Mohammed, Director General of WorldFish, and Dr. Mustafa Altuğ Atalay, Director General of TAGEM, establishes a framework for scientific and technical cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, and food and nutritional security.
It provides for joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange, research materials and expertise, and the development of training and capacity-building programs. The MOU also envisions joint organization of technical exchanges, symposia, and conferences to advance innovation and knowledge sharing between the two institutions.
Dr. Essam Yassin Mohammed, Director General of WorldFish said,

Dr. Mustafa Altuğ Atalay, Director General of TAGEM said,
“This step will enhance further cooperation with WorldFish and TAGEM. We believe this will contribute to marine agriculture research especially in the area of capacity building, fisheries aquaculture and biodiversity. In the short- and medium-term, I also believe that this cooperation will support global research and innovation”.
Through this partnership, WorldFish and TAGEM aim to advance science, innovation, and policy solutions that ensure sustainable aquatic food systems, delivering better nutrition, livelihoods, and environmental outcomes for people and the planet.
