Alyssa Jade McDonald-Baertl currently serves as the Board Chair of WorldFish, following her tenure as Vice Chair from 2020 to 2024. As a dedicated social entrepreneur, Alyssa has worked extensively in South America, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands, focusing on farmer training and capacity building to enhance livelihoods and improve crop quality. Her current work involves public finance management in the Pacific Islands with UNDP, where she contributes to improved governance, transparency, and equality. Additionally, Alyssa delivers innovation-investment strategies and assessments to the European Commission’s financial instruments to boost climate resilience and the social economy.

Alyssa serves on the supervisory board of TAKKT AG and holds policy advisory roles for the G20, G7, and the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection.

An Australian citizen and German resident, Alyssa has a rich corporate background in the energy and telecommunications sectors. She has also served on the boards of CGIAR, IFPRI, IRRI, IITA, IWMI, CIP, AfricaRice, Alliance of CIAT and Bioversity and ICARDA, as well as the German Federation of Sustainable Economy.
