Dr. Haytham Abd El-Ghaffar’s research focuses on optimizing sustainable aquaculture production, integrating renewable energy solutions, and addressing socioeconomic and gender aspects in aquaculture. He holds a PhD in Fish Biology and Reproduction from Zagazig University, Egypt.
Before joining WorldFish, Dr. Haytham was a Senior Researcher at the Agriculture Research Center - Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research (CLAR) in Egypt, where he specialized in fish physiology, hatchery management, and reproductive biology. He played a key role in national and international research projects, that aimed to improve aquaculture sector and explore innovative to mitigate climate change. Additionally, he contributed to research projects on the socioeconomic and gender dimensions of aquaculture, supporting inclusive and resilient farming systems.
Dr. Haytham is an experienced trainer and lecturer, actively involved in capacity-building programs for aquaculture professionals in Egypt and Africa. His expertise spans hatchery technologies, aquaponics, and integrated farming approaches. He has published extensively on fish reproduction, physiology, and environmental adaptation, contributing valuable insights to the advancement of aquatic food system bioscience.
