Scientist

Lorenzo Longobardi is a data scientist and researcher specializing in fisheries data analysis and data pipeline development, covering data collection, preprocessing, modeling, and visualization. His research focuses on creating data-driven solutions to support small-scale fisheries management in Timor-Leste and several East African countries. He holds a PhD in Marine Sciences from the Open University of London, in collaboration with Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Italy.

Before joining WorldFish in 2021, Lorenzo conducted research on marine ecosystems, analyzing long-term oceanographic datasets to develop indicators for environmental monitoring. At WorldFish, he has contributed to the development and maintenance of Timor-Leste’s fisheries monitoring system (Peskas) and serves as Data Lead for Work Package 1 of the AABS project.
