Scientist (Fisheries Co-management)
Dr. Md. Sharif Uddin is a seasoned fishery professional with 33 years of experience in extension, research, development, and fisheries governance. Previous to joining WorldFish has held various roles, including Upazilla Fisheries Officer, Principal Scientific Officer, and Director (Marine) in Bangladesh's Department of Fisheries, contributing significantly to marine resource management and conservation.
Dr. Uddin has also worked on international projects with organizations like the FAO and GIZ, focusing on fisheries co-management and marine protected areas. Currently, he is developing adaptive fisheries co-management initiatives in Bangladesh.
He holds a Ph.D. in Fisheries Science and has authored over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has extensive international experience across Asia, Europe, and Africa, and has traveled and worked in countries including the Netherlands, Japan, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and more.
