Okomoda Victor Tosin is a research scientist specializing in aquatic farming practices and system design. His research also focuses on aquaculture breeding, genetics, biotechnology and nutrition. He holds a First Class Degree (2011) and PhD (2018) in Fisheries from the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JOSTUM) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu respectively.
Before joining WorldFish, Okomoda worked as a Lecturer at JOSTUM (formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, FUAM) Benue State from 2013 to 2024. He also was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) from 2019 to 2023. During his time as a lecturer, Okomoda engaged in research that promoted catfish Aquaculture Production using Innovative approaches for sustainable farming such as climate smart systems; deployment of biotechnology tools (Polyploid induction; hybridization, selective breeding etc.,) and nutritional replacement of conventional ingredient with non-conventional feeds (i.e., converting waste-to-wealth).
Okomoda is one of the Associate editors of the Nigerian Journal of Fisheries (NJF) which is the official Journal of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON). He is also editorial board members to many international journals such as Frontier in Marine Science; Frontier in Aquaculture; Environmental Report; Aquaculture, Fish and Fisheries; Reproduction and Breeding.
